India DigiLocker: Download CBSE/State Board Marksheet and Keep It Verifiable

DigiLocker on digilocker.gov.in / app holds government-issued documents that verifiers can authenticate directly against the issuer. The distinction between an "Issued" document and an "Uploaded" file matters for education records: only Issued documents carry issuer verification, timestamp and QR/URL that a verifier can check.

Pulling the issued marksheet/certificate

Sign in with the Aadhaar-linked mobile/OTP (keep the phone number you used for the board's record where possible), go to Issued Documents, select the issuer — CBSE, CISCE or your state board — and search for the document type (Marksheet, Passing Certificate, Migration). Enter roll number, year, and where asked the exact name spelling the board holds. The board must have pushed that year's batch — if "No record found" appears, verify year, roll, and name spelling, check with the school, and wait for the board's issuance push. A photographed upload is not a substitute.

Sharing verifiably

Share via the DigiLocker Share link or the document's verification URL/QR rather than a photo or print. Keeping the marksheet "Issued" means a verifier on digilocker.gov.in/verify sees issuer, issue date and validity. For APAAR/Academic Bank of Credits linking, follow the education ministry's instructions — DigiLocker and APAAR are related but separate services.

Common mistakes

Uploading a photographed marksheet and assuming it is "verified"; mismatched Aadhaar name vs board name; letting a cyber-café operator retain your OTP or M-PIN; deleting the issued document after downloading a PDF — keep it issued for future verification.

Security

Never share Aadhaar OTP with a shop. Set a DigiLocker PIN, keep the account with two-factor where available, and revoke shared links when verification is complete.
