The 2024-2025 JEE Advanced remains two 3-hour papers (Paper 1 09:00-12:00 + Paper 2 14:30-17:30) on a single Sunday in late May/early June, covering Physics, Chemistry, Maths with variable marking (+3/-1 to +4/-2) and multiple answer types (single correct, multiple correct with partial marking, numerical/integer, matching/paragraph). Attempts: Max 2 consecutive years after Class 12 (e.g., if 12th in 2024, Advanced 2024 and 2025). Third attempt disallowed.

Boards: CBSE, ISC, State boards all eligible if 75% or top 20 percentile (equivalence via board percentile, not raw).

Mode: CBT only (no paper, no at-home). Rough sheet provided.

Syllabus: NCERT Class 11-12 base but 20% of Adv requires multi-concept integration 2-4 layers (e.g., thermodynamics + chemical equilibrium + electrochemistry in one physical chemistry question).

Negative marking: Numerical (integer/decimal) usually 0 negative; multiple correct partial marking is the differentiator: e.g., 4-option multiple: +4 if all correct, +3 if 3 correct and you marked 3, +1 per correct if partial, -2 if any wrong. Check brochure — varies yearly (2018: -2 for multiple, 2023: partial +1). Assume -2 for any wrong in multiple.

Admit card: jeeadv.ac.in ~1 week before (usually last Sunday in May). Two papers same day; must attempt BOTH — missing one = absent (no rank).

Exam cities: 200+ cities; choose 8 preferences; allotment by NTA computer.

Subject cutoffs: ~10-12% per subject (Physics, Chemistry, Maths) + ~35% aggregate (~126/360) to be ranked. Failing one subject (<10%) = no rank even if total 200+.

Why two papers: Single paper saturates above 85; two papers (108 q) differentiate ranks 1-10,000.

Advanced rewards depth over speed — 3.3 min allows 4-concept integration.

Previous Advanced papers 2007-2023 (organising-IIT PDFs) + jeeadv.ac.in mock CBT 2 weeks before (interface check). No official syllabus book — NCERT + H.C. Verma, Irodov, M.S. Chouhan, Cengage — but prioritize Advanced papers over Main papers for difficulty calibration.
