The only authoritative check

For your 13-digit CNIC, use the beneficiary status check published on bisp.gov.pk or the 8171 SMS method the programme lists, and verify against the programme's own helpline/Tehsil office where guidance appears. The result the official channel returns — eligible, under verification, payment released, or need for re-survey — is the status; a shopkeeper's ledger is not.
Have the CNIC digits ready and a phone you control. Do not type your CNIC into a third-party "BISP 8171 check" website that then asks for OTP, bank PIN or JazzCash/Easypaisa verification — legitimate BISP status checks do not require your banking credentials.

Protecting the payment

BISP, partner banks and legitimate agents will not ask for your OTP, PIN, password or a transfer fee by phone. A caller who says your payment is "blocked" and asks for an OTP or a small payment to "release" it is attempting fraud.
